Meet the team serving the church and city.
Keith Hartsell, Rector
God has called me to be the senior pastor in the parish and the pastor of catechists and leaders, building the church and multiplying churches to bring hope and healing into every life. In his love, God met and transformed me and my family. We want every person to encounter that same love.
As a military brat, I grew up all over the U.S. and developed a love for many subcultures within America, from the rural town of Prattville, Alabama to the high-paced suburbs of DC, I loved everyplace but only Chicagoland is my home.
Our family loves the youthfulness and warmth of the great family of Redeemer Anglican Church. They are some of the warmest and energetic men and women that we've ever met. From the extremely smart students to the passionate families to the prayerful seniors they've become our family! And together we follow Jesus. We love Portage Park. From the great restaurants to the diversity of the community, this is one of the best neighborhoods in Chicago!
Kyle Oesch, Catechist
Prior to joining the Redeemer parish, I completed a Master of Divinity degree at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA. Before attending seminary, I served in a two-year pastoral residency program at a non-denominational church in the St. Louis, MO metro area, where I am from. Currently, I also work full-time for The Veritas Forum, an organization that seeks to renew universities with the message Jesus Christ.
I live in Portage Park with my wife, Natalie, and our son Aiden. We are excited to join what God is doing in this community!
Derek Boemler, Worship Leader
When I moved to Chicago for grad school in 2011, I had no idea what awaited me at Redeemer. I am so blessed to call this church my family! As the worship leader, I love seeing people grow in their worship of the Lord as He ministers to them through music. Music has a way of opening the hearts of men and women to the reality of Christ and allowing messages (even those heard often) to truly reach those who need them— as a great theologian once said: “He who sings prays twice.” In addition to leading worship at RAC, I also serve on the voice faculty of North Central College in Naperville, IL. I am a literature buff, an avid runner and cyclist, an adventurous cook, a lover of weird music, and husband to my wonderful wife, Anne.
Anil Cherian, Lay Evangelist
A true Chicago native, I was born and raised in Chicago! My family currently hosts a small group in the North Shore area and I am active within the Sunday preaching ministry. Redeemer is a community with very humble beginnings and I can see the Lord working in a mighty way, through both the greater parish, as well as this congregation. I am passionate about being part of a church that seeks to be instruments of Christ's love, hope and forgiveness throughout Chicagoland. Redeemer is a community of loving and caring people that strives to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit in all areas of their lives–from family to workplace and everything in between. Even though I am familiar with many parts of the city, my favorite place to hang out is anywhere my wife and four children are laughing and enjoying the life graciously given by our Heavenly Father.
Phil Landin, Catechist at North Park University
Moving from Pennsylvania, I went to Chicago to study at North Park University (NPU) and in 2013, I began serving as a catechist (lay leader) at Redeemer before relocating to minister at the Bridge Church in Crystal Lake. After a year, my wife, August, and I returned to Redeemer to begin raising up a congregation at North Park and outreaching at Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU). I'm currently working on a Master of Divinity at Northern Seminary in Lombard.
Danny Linton, Spiritual Formation Coordinator and Administrative Assistant to Rector
I grew up outside the city limits of Tallahassee, FL, and rode to school and church six days a week through a living tunnel of trees. So you can imagine that when I moved to Chicagoland in 2013, coming into the city was a cultural education on its own. But I still have a special place in my heart for the forests, and for any tales that happen in them.
Though it's hard for me to remember a time when I didn't know Jesus, he still surprises me, and I've been delighted to see him open up new vistas in my spiritual life over the years. He's healed more than I knew was broken, and given more than I hoped to receive.
Before discovering the Redeemer Parish in 2014, I spent two summers doing international evangelism and six years formally studying biblical interpretation. I came on staff as the Spiritual Formation Coordinator a year afterwards, and have absolutely loved it. It's been a joy for my wife Ashley and I to walk alongside our dear friends here, as we all receive God's healing together.
Ellie Lukasiewicz, Communications
Originally from Connecticut, I lived in South Carolina before moving to Monmouth, Illinois when I was a senior in high school. After completing my Bachelor's in Criminal Justice at Blackburn College in Carlinville, IL, I moved up to Chicago and have enjoyed living in such a beautiful and vibrant city. My husband John and I attended Church of the Resurrection in Wheaton, IL before becoming members of Redeemer Anglican Church. Now with our daughter Ruth, we are so excited to see all that Redeemer is doing within Portage Park!! My family and I enjoy going to Lincoln Park Zoo, visiting the lakeshore and checking out all the beautiful parks within the Chicagoland area.
